Virtual Yoga for Focus and Fitness
Moderate Do you enjoy physical activities such as running, cross-country skiing, dancing, biking, and hiking? The use of props is strongly suggested to explore the edges of your practice safely and comfortably. Class begins and ends with meditation and floor postures to actively prepare mind and body for practice. Clear anatomical cueing mixed with poetry and themes for contemplation guide practitioners through isometric strengthening exercises interwoven with yoga postures of intermediate complexity. At the heart of it all is a practice of compassion and acceptance of one's individual experience. Athleticism and previous yoga experience are recommended. Participant testimonial: "After almost three years of pandemic shutdown, I attended my first in-person yoga class today. It was so wonderful to have Monica's careful instruction in a warm, clean, bright, quiet room at Bethany Center. After class, I felt as if I was a desert flower that had just received a long-awaited, much-needed rain shower. I would encourage anyone who is craving a lovely, in-person yoga experience to try Monica's Thursday noon-time class." ~ N.S.

Testimonials...

"Your class has been such wonderful medicine! " ~ D.D.

"Thank you for working with us in offering participants exposure to different types of movement. We received feedback from participants that this was beneficial. Participants enjoyed the Yoga class that you offered because you did not shy away from getting them moving even with the multiple abilities in the class. They also enjoyed the relaxation it offered! (Me too.)" ~ From a yoga demonstration for differently-abled individuals through Central Vermont Medical Center

"Monica's Core & Upper Body Fusion class is a wonderful mix of a strengthening workout and relaxing yoga. I always leave the class feeling amazing and walk away with new knowledge about how the body functions and moves. Monica is an excellent teacher and I look forward to her class every week." ~J.O.

"I love that we don't know what to expect each week. It helps me stay focused and increases the challenge when new poses are introduced. I also enjoy the fact your class feels like a no judgement zone. Accommodations to poses are given as the norm and more advanced poses are suggested within your practice." ~ K.B.

"You are a dedicated and involved instructor and a treasure of a teacher and person. Bursting with info you want to share with your students; we enjoy your enthusiasm and the way you adjust our postures. That's why you have such a strong following, you have a sense of humor and are engaging." ~ J.S.

"I found that listening your instruction and contemplations, then with the postures, shifting to breath, energy and what flows lead me to adjust and simply experience-- with less anticipation about what's coming next, or whether there will be a sense of strain that sometimes occurs for me doing yoga." ~ P.W.

"On a personal note, I just want to tell you how much I have appreciated your teachings over the years. You are a true person and I know you deeply care about all of us. Your soft voice and loving spirits helps sooth the rattled mind and body. I thank you for guiding on my journey and being a glow leading the way. Your work is appreciated." ~ C.G.

Treading along in this dreamlike, illusory realm,
Without looking for the traces I may have left;
A cuckoo’s song beckons me to return home,
Hearing this, I tilt my head to see
Who has told me to turn back;
But do not ask me where I am going,
As I travel in this limitless world,
Where every step I take is my home.
